NORTON - Lois (Brooks) Baker, 87, of 47 Bay Road, widow of Charles F. Baker Sr., died Saturday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. 

She was born in Northampton, daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Haven) Brooks, and was a graduate of Framingham Normal School. 

Mrs. Baker had lived in Norton for 44 years and taught at Norton High School and the House of the Pines. She was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church and the Whatsoever Club of the church. He was also active in the Norton League of Women Voters. During World War II she was chairman of the Norton Chapter, American Red Cross, and was a member of the Gray Ladies Association at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. 

She is survived by two sons, Charles F. Baker Jr. of North Easton and Howard B. Baker of Norton; a sister, Carolyn Bell of Largo, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Natalie B. Therrien. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (off Rte. 140, Taunton Ave.), Norton. The Rev. Paul H. Burditt will officiate. Burial will be in Norton Center Cemetery.

Native of Illinois

WHITMAN - Mrs. Effie M. (Heppener) Marlott, mother of Robert L. Richards, 23 Walnut St., and widow of Addison Marlott of Peoria, Ill., died Thursday in Brockton Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. She was in her 79th year. 

Born in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie (Sowers) Heppener, she had been a long-time resident of Peoria until moving to Whitman in April of this year to make her home with her son. 

Mrs. Marlott is survived by a son, Robert L. Richards of Whitman; three grandchildren, Mrs. Raymond (Mary E.) Showalter of Virginia, Robert J. Richards of Bridgewater and Thomas R. Richards of Whitman; a brother, Edward Heppener of Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. Margie Hall, Mrs. Orphie Nemo and Mrs. Minnie Himmerlick, all of Peoria; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary (Okulewicz) Czymbor, of 118 West Ashland St., widow of Joseph Czymbor, died unexpectedly in her home on Thursday.

Born in New Jersey, she had resided in Brockton for 45 years.

She was a retired garment worker formerly employed by Al's Sportswear of Brockton.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Ostrobrama Church.

Survivors include two daughers, Mrs. John J. (Jane) Fitzgerald and Mrs. Otis (Ann) Estey, both of Brockton; seven grandchildren and two sisters in Poland.

Leon I. Makepeace Of Mansfield Dies

MANSFIELD, April 5 - Leon Ide Makepeace, assistant manager of a Boston blue print company, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at a rest home in Wakefield, R. I., where he had been for the past few months. 

His body was brought here today. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from a local funeral home. Rev. George D. Hudson will conduct the services. Burial will be in the family lot in Spring Brook cemetery.

Mr. Makepeace was born in Mansfield, Jan. 3, 1895, son of Bertram L. and Annie H. (Buzzell) Makepeace. He was educated in the local schools and later attended Moses Brown school of Providence. For the past 20 years, he has been connected with his father's business in Boston. 

He was twice married. Besides his father, he leaves two daughters, Misses Elizabeth and Ann Makepeace, and a sister.

Mrs. Annie Mitchell Dies at Onset Home

ONSET, April 5 - Mrs. Annie H. Mitchell, 56, wife of Frederick L. Mitchell, died Saturday at her home in Onset avenue, Point Independence, following a three-week illness.

She was born in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late William and Julia Ralph. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell have been residents of Onset the past 16 years.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Julia Ralph, and a daughter, Mrs. Maude Vesber of East Greenwich, R. I., and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at a Wareham undertaking parlor. Burial will be at Centre cemetery.

Waldo B. Tirrell Of Weymouth Dies

Weymouth, April, 5. - Waldo B. Tirrell, 36, native of Weymouth, who resided at 20 Baker avenue, died at the Weymouth Hospital Saturday night, where he submitted to an emergency appendectomy more than a week ago.

He was a member of the Weymouth fire department, having been assigned to duty at station 3, and was a member of the Firemen's Relief Association.

The funeral is to be held Tuesday afternoon from the First Baptist church and will be conducted by Rev. Nathan W. Wood. Interment will be in the Reed cemetery, Front street.

Mr. Tirrell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara (Gerrald) Tirrell, and six children and his mother, Mrs. Lillian T. White and a sister, Mrs. Winfred Brown.

ROCKLAND - Graveside services were held Nov. 7 for Christian F. Stephens, 38, of Stony Brook, L.I., N.Y., husband of Dorothy (Merritt) Stephens, formerly of Rockland. He died Nov. 2, in Mather Memorial Hospital, Port Jefferson, N.Y., after a long illness. 

Born and raised in Woodside, N.Y., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Stephens of Woodside, who survive him.

Stephens was a chief mechanical engineer for Syska & Hennessey, Inc., consulting engineers of New York City.

In addition two his wife and his parents, he is survived by three sons, twins, Christian and Curtis, and James Stephens; a daughter, Susan, all of Long Island; two sisters, Mrs. June Amile of Hempstead, L.I., and Mrs. Virginia Wiles of Woodside, N.Y.; a brother, Frederic of Merrick, N.Y.

Arrangements were by the O. B. Davis Funeral Home, Long Island, N.Y. Interment was in National Cemetery in Framingdale, Long Island.

Mystic - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Ruth Helen Martin Foss, 89, of 43 Ocean View Ave., who died Wednesday morning at home after an extended illness.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mystic Congregational Church. Private burial will be in Plain-Mont Cemetery, Plainfield, Vt. There are no calling hours.

Mrs. Foss was born on Aug. 22, 1904 in Elderband, Nova Scotia, the youngest child of William Trapnell and Susan McKeen Martin. She was raised in Stoneham, Mass., and was a graduate of Stoneham High School.

She was employed for several years as a physician's assistant in Stoneham. A resident of Mystic since 1956, Mrs. Foss had summered for several years at Lake Groton, Vt. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Mystic. On Feb. 10, 1935, on Cape Cod, she was married to John Rogers Foss Sr. Mr. Foss survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Judith F. Hart of Portland, Maine; a son, John Rogers Foss, Jr., of Lutz, Fla.; and a grandchild.

Anna H. Wallace

EASTON - Mrs. Anna H. Wallace, 73, of Esther Drive, West Bridgewater, formerly of North Easton, died Thursday in the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital, Brockton. She was the widow of James A. Wallace.

Born in Arlington, daughter of the late John and Julia (Walsh) Kelley, she was a member of the Senior Citizens of West Bridgewater. She had resided there for five years since moving from North Easton.

Survivors include three sons, John L. Wallace of Frederick, Del., Ronald D. of West Bridgewater and Lawrence K. Wallace of Milton, Vt.; two daughters, Mrs. Faith J. Messinger and Mrs. Ann L. Smith, both of Easton; a brother, Leo Kelley of Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Irene Burrows of Arlington; also survived by 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

The funeral was held this morning when a funeral Mass was celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment was in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

William Maule

TAUNTON - Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in the Dagen Funeral Home, 63 Winthrop St., Taunton, for William F. C. Maule, 81, of 217 Lincoln Ave., Cape Canaveral, Fla., husband of the late Elizabeth (Spangenberger) Maule who died unexpectedly Wednesday in his home.

He had been a resident of Florida since 1975 and previously lived in Taunton from 1928 to 1975. Mr. Maule was a retired comptroller and office manager for the Reed and Barton Silver Co. of Taunton.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Priscilla) Bergles of Ames, Iowa, and Mrs. Alfred (Charlotte) Sharon of Brockton; a brother Elton Maule of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Reis of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; five grandchildren.

Interment was in Mayflower Hills Cemetery, Taunton. Officiating at the service was Rev. Michael T. Fruth, pastor of the First Lutheran Church of Brockton.

Reports Three Children Drowned.

Boston, Dec. 7. - Playing on thin ice cost the lives of three children in this vicinity. Ethel, aged eleven, daughter of Charles Anderson, and Martha, aged ten, daughter of John Anderson, were drowned in a pond in Northeaston. In Methuen, George Stack, Jr., aged thirteen lost his life trying to save his younger brother Arthur from the water of Mystic pond. Arthur was dragged to safety by a man.

BROCKTON - Deacon Thomas E. Robison, 63, of Brockton died Friday at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Patty (Walden) Robison.

Born in Roanoke, Va., he was a son of the late Otho and Idonia (Sutton) Robison.

Mr. Robison was a 1962 graduate of William Fleming High School in Roanoke, Va.

He served in U.S Air Force from 1962 to 1969 and was discharged with the rank of sergeant.

Retired, Mr. Robison was a technical staff member at Draper Laboratory in Cambridge for more than 35 years.

A deacon, he was ordained Sept. 18, 2004, by Cardinal Sean O'Malley and had served at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where he was a longtime communicant and served on many different committees there.

Mr. Robison was a scout leader for Cub Scout Pack 11 and Boy Scout Troop 11.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Seville Council Brockton and was a past grand knight.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and a daughter, William T. Robison of East Bridgewater and Heather Sutherland of Raynham; two grandchildren; two sisters, LaWanda Karnes of Roanoke, Va., and Carole Edens of Bartlett, Tenn.; and eight nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

WAREHAM - April 7. - The funeral of Frederick M. Pease, 68, was held yesterday from his late home at the Latter Day Saints' camp grounds, where for the past 25 years he has made his home. He was a native of Talcotville, Conn., was formerly in the textile industry in New Bedford and later was a teamster here. His widow survives.

Lindol J. Sprague

Lindol J. Sprague, 49 North Warren avenue, died today in his 77th year. He was born in Marshfield, and was engaged as a tack maker. He died at the Brockton hospital.

Mr. Sprague leaves a wife; a son, Roy K. Sprague of Bartlesville, Okla.; and a niece, Mrs. Nellie Lane of this city.

Charles E. Carlson

Funeral services for Charles E. Carlson, formerly of 17 South St., husband of the late Alma (Hall) Carlson, were held Saturday afternoon from the First Lutheran Church Chapel with the pastor, Rev.
