Mr. Southworth was nearing his 79th birthday. He was born in Stoughton, Sept. 25, 1874, and the old colonial homestead on Central street in West Stoughton still stands as a monument to the Southworth family. He was the son of Messina B. and Ellen (Eaton) Southworth, and great-grandson of Consider Southworth, once a prominent manufacturer here and chairman of the selectmen for several years.

He was graduated from Stoughton High school and later from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There he received his degrees in architecture and engineering that landed him in the architectural department of the United States Navy. He served the government in that important naval office for over 50 years. If the records could be searched they would reveal an amazing story of accomplishments in the naval department of the government, for a service of a half century on such a job, bears testimony of a valued service well rendered. He belonged to a long list of naval and professional societies. 

Last summer he visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Southworth on Central street. Mr. Southworth was a cousin of the deceased. Aside from his profession, he was deeply interested in genealogies and spent much time outside in seeking out ancestral lines in families in which he was interested. He retired three years ago, but was recalled for professional advice for a time. 

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Inez M. (Winthrop) Southworth of Needham; two nephews, Charles of Needham and Winthrop if Washington. 

Funeral service will be held at a Highland avenue funeral home in Needham, Friday afternoon, followed by interment in Evergreen cemetery, Stoughton.

Edward E. Seaver, 53, Dies Suddenly

Police were called to the home of Edward E. Seaver, 53, of 130 Pine street, about 1:15 A. M. today when his wife said he had fallen unconscious to the floor. Patrolmen Ekman and Lofstrom found Seaver dead on a couch when they arrived. Mrs. Seaver said he had suffered from heart trouble but had felt good during the day and was talking with her when he collapsed. 

Mr. Seaver, whose death comes as a sad shock to many friends, had lived in Brockton 36 years and had made his home at 130 Pine street since 1930. He was devoted to his home and was highly regarded by all who knew him. He was popular with children in the neighborhood. He was employed by the National Chair Co., of Whitman. 

Mr. Seaver was born in Southington, Conn., a son of the late Irving and Martha Seaver. He is survived by his widow, Edith (Tillman) Seaver and two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Alice) Tripp of South Easton and Mrs. Ethel Burr of Onset.

Rev. Dr. Robert Wood Coe will officiate at the funeral services to be held at the funeral home, 43 White avenue, Saturday at 1 P. M., with interment in Melrose cemetery.

ABINGTON –  Funeral services were held for Joseph A. Dion at his late residence, High street, yesterday morning followed by a high mass of requiem at St. Bridget's church with Rev. Charles E. Riley, celebrant. Miss Helen Lydon was organist and soloist was Mrs. Leo Provost and Mrs. William Caruso.

Interment was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Rockland, with prayers at the grave by Rev. James Hamilton.

Arthur W. Bourne

WHITMAN - Funeral services for Arthur W. Bourne of Alden street, formerly of Hanson, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Hanson Baptist church where he had been a deacon for more than 50 years, with Rev. L. Stanley Manierre conducting. Appropriate organ music was played by Mrs. W. C. Vokey. Relatives and friends were in attendance and there were many flowers. Interment was in Fern Hill cemetery with Rev. Mr. Manierre conducting the committal service. Bearers were Ray Peterson, Merton Wood, John B. Pennini and George Morgan of the Knights of Pythias. On Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel, 532 Washington street, Plymouth Rock Lodge K of P member under direction of Chancellor Com. Gunnar Palm with Joseph A. Vaughan as prelate conducted their service. Mr. Bourne was a member of the order for 50 years and held a 50-year certificate which was presented him three years ago.

Constantinos Trent

The funeral of Constantinos S. Trent, 12 Waverly street, was held Wednesday afternoon with prayers at the funeral home, 9 Chester avenue, followed by a service at the Greek Orthodox church where Rev. Constantine Chrysanthos conducted the service. Many attended and an extra car was required to take the floral tributes to the grave in Melrose cemetery. Members of the Greek Ahepa Club acted as bearers including Charles Boyantis, Asterios Bloumbas, James Zatzos and John Dayos.

SOUTH EASTON.–Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home, 38 Center street, North Easton, for Mrs. Eugenia (Serebriakov) Jacoby. Rev. Albert Lee Cook

Albert Lee Cook, 822 Warren avenue, died today at his home. He was a native of East Bridgewater and lived here many years.

He was employed by the Gurney Tack Co., and retired in 1945. He was a son of the late William and Cora (Standish) Cook.

George A. Roe

George A. Roe, 101 Harvard street, son of the late John H., and Sarah J. (Beatty) Roe, 101 Harvard street, died today at his home after a short illness. He was born in Sharon and lived here for the past 50 years. He was a shoe worker and at one time was head skiver at the former E. E. Taylor Co. 

Mr. Rose was an old-tome baseball player and was shortstop for the Algonquin Club and the OKO Club. In later years, he assisted the late Joseph Downey in coaching the Taunton Lumber team. 

He was a member of Seville Council, KC, and was a former member of the Holy Name Society at St. Margaret's church.

He leaves a sister, Mrs. John T. (Laura) Garand of this city; a nephew, Alfred Garand, also of this city; and two nieces, Mrs. Helen (Garand) Goetz of Roslindale and Miss Laura Bigelow of Brockton.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 8 A. M., from the funeral home, 9 Chester avenue. A high mass of requiem will be sung in St. Patrick's church at 9. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Mary E. Rodgers

PLYMOUTH.–Mrs. Mary E. Rodgers, widow of Andrew Rodgers of this town, died at her home Wednesday at the age of 80 years. She was born in Londonderry, North Ireland, but spent most of her life in this town. Her parents were the late John and Margaret (Thompson) McLaughlin, both natives of North Ireland. Her only survivors are several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the funeral home, 28 Middle street, Rev. Edwin C. Anthony officiating. Interment will be in Vine Hills cemetery.

WHITMAN. - Funeral services for Harry J. Murray of 627 Temple street were held Tuesday from the funeral home, 158 Warren avenue, followed by funeral mass in the Church of the Holy Ghost at 9 with Rev. James P. Byrne as celebrant. Mrs. Gertrude Gilberti presided at the organ and the soloists were Mary Blanchard Sweeney and Amedeo Gilberti. Many relatives and friends were in attendance and an extra car was necessary to convey the many flowers to Melrose cemetery, Brockton, where interment took place. The bears were Mr. Murray's six sons, Warren C., Harry W., Albert F., Alton K., Sherod C., and Stanley K. Murray.

Christina Yezukevicz

Mrs. Christina (Tamulevicz) Yezukevicz, wife of Kastantas Yezukevicz of 18 1-2 Arthur street died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie R. Hallin, 126 Myrtle street, with whom she had made her home since her illness. 

A native of Lithuania, Mrs. Yezukevicz settled in Brockton over 45 years ago and was employed as a leather worker until illness forced her retirement. She was a member of the Birutes Society. Her life was marked by her devotion to her home, family and grandchildren. 

Surviving are her husband, Kastantas; a daughter, Mrs. Hallin; a grandson, Sgt. Henry Dors, now stationed with the U. S. Marines at Quantico, Va.; three granddaughters, Nancy and Charlotte Dors of Stoughton and Christian Hallin. 

The funeral will take place at the funeral home, 30 Emerson avenue, Friday at 8 A. M. A high mass of requiem will follow in St. Casimir's church at 9 A. M. Interment will be in the family lot in Calvary cemetery.

Miss Alice M. Coburn

The funeral of Miss Alice M. Coburn, who died Saturday, was held Tuesday afternoon in Belmont with interment following in Melrose cemetery, Brockton. Rev. Robert Wood Coe, DD, former minister of South Congregational church, officiated. Miss Coburn lived in Brockton for many years before she moved to Cambridge and later to Belmont. She is survived by a niece, Miss Beatrice Coburn, with whom she lived, and a nephew, Earl Coburn of Hingham.

There was a large attendance at the funeral of Sabatino DiTacchio, 69 Bay street, held this morning from the funeral home at 419 Main street. A solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated in St. Colman's church, with Rev. Nino Maritano, SJ. celebrant; Rev. William Morrissey, deacon; Rev. William Donovan, sub-deacon.
